My current research interests center around issues related to identity and transnationalism in second generation Mexican-Americans. Topical concerns include language choice, situational identity, gender roles, agency, and political economy. I have conducted research on identity formation among second generation Mexican immigrants and the language ideologies surrounding English-only language policies. I hope to use my current and future research to expand our knowledge of transnational populations and challenge current myths and stereotypes of Mexican-Americans.
